Our daughter has never hesitated to quickly and loudly let us know when she is even slightly unhappy. If he were hurting or upsetting her in any way... it would be clear.

You do know that once she reaches 2-3 years old he will abandon you and stick to her like glue. My black lab is the same way, when she first came to me I couldn't leave the room without her, then my sister brought my newborn nephew over and she attached to him like velcro she even licked his feet like your dog did. Now when he's here she doesn't even know I exist..lol

Oh...PS...keeping children in plastic bubbles deprives their immune systems from learning to develop and fight off the ever onslaught of bacteria that surrounds us in our daily lives...hence, we have sickly children. Yes, there are other things that can happen, but you could take them to the store and get in a wreck and lose them quicker than letting them play on the floor with the family pet who is obviously very loving towards the baby...stick your hand down there while it plays with her & C.
